  1. In other words politics should not be an occupation, since the
  2. present qualifications for the position are simply one's ability to
  3. manipulate and influence the voters. This is like licensing a doctor
  4. because his wife is beautiful. An interesting alternative to the
  5. present form of social management is RANDOM representation.
  6. That is through a national lottery, where every citizen is eligible for
  7. office. This of course would change the emphasis in our educational
  8. processes since we would now have a vested interest in training our
  9. citizens to be socially responsible and functional.
  10. The emphasis in education would then shift from a competitive
  11. social conforming value system to a co-operative motivated value
  12. system. Everyone would then have an equal chance of being
  13. "President". The liberal arts, social sciences and civics would then
  14. become as important or more so than vocational skills and the hard
  15. sciences. Inter-active dynamics and the human potential movement
  16. would be a necessity, rather than a simple step-child of an
  17. educational system based on social conformity (imprisonment of the
  18. student) as well as the now dead industrial revolution (mis-
  19. management of territory and resources). It would reflect favorably
  20. in our daily and civic social interactions.
